ASTM A269 TP304 stainless steel seamless heat exchanger tube

ASTM A269 TP304 stainless steel seamless heat exchanger tube
304 stainless steel seamless heat exchanger tube is an austenitic stainless steel composed of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. It offers excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance, high tensile strength, and good thermal conductivity at elevated temperatures. Extruded from hot billets without welds, seamless tubes offer superior strength and pressure-bearing capacity compared to welded tubes, making them an ideal choice for demanding heat exchanger applications.
Is 304 stainless steel resistant to high temperatures?
304 stainless steel has good high-temperature resistance and offers good oxidation resistance in intermittent service up to 870°C (1598°F) and continuous service up to 925°C (1697°F). However, continuous use at temperatures between 425-860°C (797-1580°F) is not recommended due to reduced corrosion resistance and potential carbide precipitation. For higher temperatures, or to avoid issues within this range, 304L stainless steel (corrosion resistance) or 304H stainless steel (higher strength) are better choices.
