What are the differences between Hastelloy G30 and C276?

Both Hastelloy G30 and C276 are nickel-based alloys, but G30, due to its higher chromium content (approximately 30%) and copper content, exhibits superior corrosion resistance in oxidizing, sulfuric, and phosphoric acid environments, making it ideal for acid processing. C276, on the other hand, with its higher molybdenum content (approximately 15-17%) and tungsten content (approximately 3-4.5%), performs exceptionally well in reducing environments, chlorine-rich media, and seawater, exhibiting better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, making it a benchmark material for harsh chemical processing environments. The main difference between the two lies in their elemental balance: G30's oxidation resistance primarily relies on chromium, while C276 relies on molybdenum and tungsten to enhance its corrosion resistance in reducing/chlorinated environments.

What is the maximum operating temperature of Hastelloy C276?

Hastelloy C-276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. This alloy is resistant to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Hastelloy C-276 can only be hardened through cold working. Its operating temperature range is from low temperatures to 750°F (400°C).

What is Hastelloy G30?

Hastelloy G30 is renowned for its exceptional corrosion resistance in phosphoric acid environments. Composed of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum, it is primarily used in the chemical processing and petrochemical industries. G30 alloy exhibits extremely strong resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. It also demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance in chloride environments. Hastelloy G30 is commonly used in environments containing sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and hydrofluoric acid, making it ideal for pharmaceuticals, pulp and paper manufacturing, and flue gas desulfurization.

What is Hastelloy C276?

Hastelloy C276 is a commonly used alloy widely applied in the chemical processing and oil and gas industries. Composed of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium, it possesses excellent resistance to oxidation, reduction, alkalis, and chlorides. C276 alloy has been used in wet chlorine environments and exhibits excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and localized corrosion. It is also suitable for components subjected to high mechanical stress and high-temperature environments, such as industrial processes containing large amounts of sulfur dioxide.
