Information on Hastelloy X and Hastelloy C276 sheet metal
Hastelloy X alloy plates and alloy C276 plates are both high-performance nickel-based alloys renowned for their corrosion resistance, but their compositions and optimal applications differ: C276 medium-thick plates (Ni-Cr-Mo-W), due to their high molybdenum/tungsten content, excel in harsh chemical environments, exhibiting excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC); while Hastelloy X thin plates (Ni-Cr-Fe-Mo), with their high iron/chromium content, offer superior high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and formability, making them ideal for aerospace applications, and C276 plates stand out in chemical processing. Both are supplied in sheet form, but the C276 alloy plates are favored for their unparalleled corrosion resistance under harsh chemical conditions, even after welding.
Is Hastelloy C276 resistant to hydrochloric acid?
Hastelloy C-276 exhibits excellent resistance to hydrochloric acid. It can withstand various concentrations of hydrochloric acid at room temperature and can be used safely at temperatures up to approximately 49°C (120°F).

Hastelloy X sheet is a type of sheet rolled from a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum-cobalt alloy (Hastelloy X). Its core characteristics include excellent resistance to oxidation, carburization, and hot corrosion at temperatures up to approximately 1200°C, while maintaining good high-temperature strength and thermal fatigue resistance. It is specifically designed for critical structural components requiring long-term exposure to extreme temperatures and corrosive atmospheres, such as aero-engine combustion chambers, gas turbine components, high-temperature zones in industrial furnaces, and heat treatment equipment. It is a top-tier sheet material for high-temperature oxidation resistance and thermal shock resistance applications.
Hastelloy C276 sheet is a type of sheet rolled from a nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten superalloy (Hastelloy C-276). Its core advantage lies in its virtually universal corrosion resistance, effectively resisting extreme corrosive media such as strong oxidizing and reducing acids, mixed acids, chlorides, wet chlorine gas, and harsh acidic salt solutions. It exhibits particularly outstanding resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. It is designed specifically for manufacturing critical components in the most corrosive and challenging industrial environments, such as chemical reactors, flue gas desulfurization equipment, hydrometallurgical containers, marine engineering structures, and pharmaceutical equipment. It is one of the top-tier plates with the widest range of corrosion resistance among commercial alloys available.
