NM 400 is an all-round steel with superior performance compared to low-carbon steel. With a nominal hardness of 400 HBW, it resists wear and tear effectively. Thanks to its high toughness, bendability, and weldability, it is perfect for equipment subjected to moderate wear.
NM 400 plates range in thickness from 2 to 130 mm (0.079 to 5.118 inches).
This grade is also available in pipe and round bar forms.
Ordinary steel cannot meet the cutting demands of modern equipment. It lacks the strength or hardness needed to achieve desired productivity or lifespan. By upgrading from steels like S255, S355, A36, grade 50, A514, SS400, or S45C to NM 400, you can expect stronger and lighter equipment that enhances capacity and reduces maintenance efforts.
NM 400 is delivered in Q or QT condition (Quenched or Quenched and Tempered). NM thick plates are delivered with either sheared edges or thermally cut edges, while plates thicker than 80 mm are standardly supplied with mill edges. NM thin plates are standardly supplied with rolled surfaces and mill edges.
