ASTM A516 boiler vessel plate is suitable for welded pressure vessels with high requirements on notch toughness. ASTM A516 boiler vessel plate is also a carbon steel plate, divided into four strength levels: level 55, level 60, level 65, and level 70.

ASTM A516 boiler vessel plates shall be killed steel and shall meet the fine austenite grain size requirements of ASTM A20/A20M standards. ASTM A516 boiler vessel plate thickness is limited only by the ability of the chemical composition to meet specified mechanical property requirements. But the thickness of grade 55 steel plates is usually limited to 305mm. The thickness of grade 60, 65 and 70 steel plates is limited to 205mm.
