ASTM A588 Gr.C is a specification for high-strength, low-alloy structural steel with improved resistance to atmospheric corrosion, suitable for structural steel such as angles, channels, and beams, as well as plates and bars.
The atmospheric corrosion resistance of A588 Gr.C steel in most environments is significantly better than that of carbon structural steel with or without added copper.
ASTM A588 Gr.C atmospheric corrosion resistant steel is used in various types of welded, bolted and riveted structures such as steel structures. Steel frame structures, bridges, tanks and containers, exhaust systems, vehicle and equipment structures.
