ASTM A312 TP347H pipe is a high-temperature stabilized austenitic stainless steel seamless tube designed for use in environments subject to extreme heat, oxidizing, and intergranular corrosion, such as those found in the power generation and petrochemical industries. It features the addition of niobium (columbium) to prevent chromium carbide precipitation at high temperatures, thereby enhancing its resistance to intergranular corrosion. The "H" designation indicates a higher carbon content, which improves strength, toughness, and creep resistance at high temperatures.

What are the specifications for SS 316 seamless pipe?

 

316 stainless steel pipe has a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 200 MPa. Its density is as high as 8,000 kg/m³. Standard wall thicknesses for these pipes range from 0.5 mm to 6.35 mm. SS 316 seamless pipe does not have fillet welds.

(1) High-temperature industrial equipment

Boilers and power plants: superheater and reheater pipes, capable of withstanding high-pressure steam (≤ 800°C).

Cracking furnace tubes: radiant section furnace tubes of high-temperature cracking furnaces in the petrochemical industry.

Heat exchangers: used for heat exchange of high-temperature gases or liquids to avoid sensitization corrosion during long-term use.

(2) Chemical and petrochemical industries

Nitric acid production equipment: nitric acid concentration devices, storage tanks and transportation pipelines.

Ammonia synthesis plants: synthesis towers and reactor pipes under high-temperature and high-pressure environments.

(3) Other fields

Food processing: high-temperature sterilization equipment (must meet hygiene standards).

Nuclear industry: auxiliary pipelines of certain nuclear fuel processing systems.

 

How to Identify "H" Grade Steel
Chemical Composition: "H" grade steel has a higher carbon content (typically 0.04% - 0.10%) than standard 347 grade steel, which is critical for its high-temperature performance.
UNS Number: 347H is designated by the UNS number S34709 to distinguish it from standard 347 grade steel (UNS S34700).
