ASME SB677 UNS N08904 stainless steel corrosion resistant pipe

ASME SB677 UNS N08904 stainless steel corrosion resistant pipe
ASME SB677 UNS N08904 pipe is a high-alloy, austenitic stainless steel designed for use in harsh corrosive environments, particularly dilute sulfuric and phosphoric acids. It is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, including resistance to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. This grade of pipe is also non-magnetic, tough, easily formable, and weldable, requiring no pre- or post-weld heat treatment.
What are the material specifications for SS316 pipe?
316 stainless steel pipe has a minimum tensile strength of 515 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 200 MPa. Its density is as high as 8,000 kg/m³. Standard wall thicknesses for these pipes range from 0.5 mm to 6.35 mm. SS316 seamless pipes do not have fillet welds.

Possible alternative grades to 904L stainless steel.
| Grade | Why it might be chosen instead of 904L |
| 316L | A lower cost alternative, but with much lower corrosion resistance. |
| 6Mo | A higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion resistance is needed. |
| 2205 | A very similar corrosion resistance, with the 2205 having higher mechanical strength, and at a lower cost to 904L. (2205 not suitable for temperatures above 300C.) |
| Super duplex | Higher corrosion resistance is needed, together with a higher strength than 904L. |

Gnee Steel specializes in the production of a wide range of stainless steel products. Gnee Steel's product packaging includes: Steel Strapping: Pipes with an outer diameter of 3 inches or less are typically strapped together with polypropylene film to prevent rust during ocean shipping, and then secured with steel strapping. Wooden Cases/Crates: Pipes are typically packaged in wooden cases or crates to protect the pipes during transportation, especially those that are longer or have larger diameters. Seaworthy Export Packaging: Suppliers typically use standard seaworthy export packaging methods, which may include a variety of materials and techniques to protect the pipes during transportation. Tarpaulin Packaging: This prevents rain, seawater, and other external factors from penetrating the export crates during transportation. Gnee Steel specializes in the production and sale of alloy materials. Gnee Steel's products are widely used in the aerospace, chemical, power, automotive, and nuclear energy sectors, and we can provide customized alloy material solutions based on customer needs.
