Core Common Applications
Outdoor structures: Bridges, trestles, railway platforms, and highway guardrails. Their protective oxide layer (patina) eliminates the need for frequent repainting.
Architectural decoration: Facades of public buildings (museums, art galleries), outdoor sculptures, and landscape elements. The unique rust-colored patina adds an industrial or artistic aesthetic.
Industrial facilities: Silos, ore storage bins, and workshop exterior walls. They resist corrosion from industrial fumes and outdoor humidity.
Transportation infrastructure: Container frames, cargo ship deck components, and open-air parking lot canopies. They withstand the corrosive effects of rain, salt spray (near coastal areas), and temperature changes.
Minor Application Differences
Corten A: More commonly used in North American and European projects, such as historic building restorations or imported equipment components, due to its compliance with ASTM standards (A242/A588).
Q355NH: As a Chinese national standard (GB/T 4171) steel, it is the preferred choice for domestic projects in China, including municipal infrastructure (e.g., urban overpasses) and local factory constructions, for easier procurement and cost control.
