Stainless steel ASTM A312 316L pickled and annealed tubing for heating and cooling systems

Stainless steel ASTM A312 316L pickled and annealed tubing for heating and cooling systems
ASTM A312 316L pickled and annealed pipes are ideal for heating and cooling systems due to their excellent corrosion resistance (especially in chloride environments) and good mechanical properties. The "316L" designation indicates a molybdenum-containing low-carbon austenitic stainless steel. Compared to other grades (such as 304/304L), molybdenum enhances its resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The "annealed" condition imparts a soft and ductile quality, while the "pickled" treatment ensures a clean, scale-free surface, allowing for direct use and further enhancing its corrosion resistance.
What is the operating temperature range of 316L stainless steel?
For intermittent use, it exhibits good oxidation resistance, reaching a maximum temperature of 870℃; for continuous use, the maximum temperature is 925℃. If good resistance to water corrosion is required for subsequent use, continuous use of 316 stainless steel within the 425-860℃ range is not recommended. 316L stainless steel has stronger resistance to carbide precipitation and can be used within the above temperature range.

Design and Specification Considerations
Dimensions: Pipe dimensions are determined by the outer diameter (OD) and wall thickness (THK), and different wall thickness grades (SCH) are available for different pressure ratings.
Heat Treatment: The material must undergo heat treatment (annealing and quenching) to ensure optimal corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
Surface Finishes: Pickling and annealing are common surface finishes, but other finishes such as bright annealing are also available. Please select the most suitable surface finish based on your cleanliness and aesthetic requirements.
Temperature Limitations: Please note the maximum operating temperature limits, which may vary depending on specific specifications and applications (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASME BPVC Section VIII-1).
Standards: Ensure the pipes meet the quality and performance requirements of ASTM A312.

Gnee Steel specializes in the production of a wide range of stainless steel products. Gnee Steel's product packaging includes: Steel Strapping: Pipes with an outer diameter of 3 inches or less are typically strapped together with polypropylene film to prevent rust during ocean shipping, and then secured with steel strapping. Wooden Cases/Crates: Pipes are typically packaged in wooden cases or crates to protect the pipes during transportation, especially those that are longer or have larger diameters. Seaworthy Export Packaging: Suppliers typically use standard seaworthy export packaging methods, which may include a variety of materials and techniques to protect the pipes during transportation. Tarpaulin Packaging: This prevents rain, seawater, and other external factors from penetrating the export crates during transportation. Gnee Steel specializes in the production and sale of alloy materials. Gnee Steel's products are widely used in the aerospace, chemical, power, automotive, and nuclear energy sectors, and we can provide customized alloy material solutions based on customer needs.
