Stainless Steel 304L Pipe
304L stainless steel pipe is made from a low-carbon version of 18-8 austenitic stainless steel, the most widely used stainless steel material in the world. Its lower carbon content allows for over-welding without causing localized corrosion. This is because 304L stainless steel pipe produces less carbide precipitation during welding, preventing excessive intergranular corrosion. Stainless steel pipe is available in two types: seamless and welded. Welded pipe is made by joining strips of the same grade end-to-end or spirally welding them.
What's the difference between 304 and 304L pipe?
304 stainless steel pipe: It has higher tensile strength and yield strength, making it more suitable for high-stress applications. 304L stainless steel pipe: While slightly weaker than 304 stainless steel pipe, it's still strong enough for most applications, especially where corrosion resistance is a priority.
