304 stainless steel plate

Learn about 304 stainless steel plate information
Type 304 stainless steel is a versatile austenitic alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance and weldability. Due to its balanced combination of strength, ductility, and resistance to various corrosive environments, it is used in a wide variety of applications, from kitchenware to industrial equipment.
What are the properties of 304 stainless steel plate?
304 stainless steel plate has a minimum tensile strength of 75 ksi and a minimum yield strength of 0.2% of 30 ksi. The elongation of 304 stainless steel plate is 40%. This type of stainless steel plate has a maximum Brinell hardness of 201 and a Rockwell hardness of 92.

Corrosion Resistance of Stainless Steel 304 Plate
304 stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of environments and when in contact with a variety of corrosive media. In environments containing chlorides, pitting and crevice corrosion may occur. At temperatures exceeding 60°C, stress corrosion cracking may occur.
Heat Resistance of Stainless Steel 304 Sheet
304 stainless steel plate offers good oxidation resistance in intermittent operation up to 870°C and continuous operation up to 925°C. However, if corrosion resistance in water is required, continuous use at temperatures between 425°C and 860°C is not recommended. In this case, 304L stainless steel is recommended due to its resistance to carbide precipitation.
If high strength is required above 500°C and up to 800°C, 304H grade stainless steel is recommended. This material maintains resistance to water corrosion.
