Inconel 718 tubing compared to 825 alloy tubing

Inconel 718 tubing offers exceptional high-temperature strength (up to 700°C), excellent creep rupture resistance, and high-strength precipitation hardening properties, making it suitable for aerospace and critical oil/gas applications. In contrast, Incoloy 825 tubing excels in corrosion resistance, particularly against sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, making it more suitable for chemical processing applications.

What is the difference between Inconel 718 and 825?

The main difference between Inconel 718 and 825 lies in their chemical composition. Although both are nickel-chromium alloys, they differ in the proportions of other elements such as iron, niobium, molybdenum, titanium, aluminum, copper, and carbon. (January 3, 2023)

Inconel 718 And 825 Alloy

Inconel 718 seamless and welded pipes possess exceptional resistance to oxidation, corrosion, and stress cracking. These seamless and welded Inconel 718 pipes have a tensile strength of 130,000 psi and a yield strength of 75,000 psi. Inconel 718 pipes exhibit outstanding performance and an extremely high melting point.

Inconel 825 possesses similarly excellent properties. Inconel 825 effectively resists the effects of chemical processes such as corrosion, moisture, and oxidation. Inconel 825 can operate normally at temperatures up to 1020 degrees Celsius. It has a tensile strength of 80,000 psi and a yield strength of 32,000 psi. It exhibits excellent resistance to crevice corrosion, chemical corrosion, and stress cracking caused by climate change. These pipes are widely used in oil and gas extraction, chemical processing, and radioactive waste treatment.
