1. Recommended Cutting Methods
Plasma Cutting:
Best for thick plates (6–50 mm), fast but may leave slight slag; post-cut grinding is advised.
Laser Cutting:
Precision cutting for thin-to-medium plates (<20 mm), clean edges with minimal HAZ.
Waterjet Cutting:
Cold-cutting ideal for avoiding thermal distortion, suitable for all thicknesses (no HAZ).
Shearing:
Cost-effective for thin plates (<10 mm), but edges may require deburring.
2. Methods to Avoid
Oxy-Fuel Cutting:
Not recommended due to excessive heat, which can alter corrosion-resistant properties.
Abusive Mechanical Cutting:
Poor blade quality may cause edge cracking or delamination.
3. Post-Cutting Treatment
Grinding/Blending: Smooth edges to prevent rust traps.
Passivation: Apply weathering accelerants (e.g., vinegar/water spray) to promote patina formation on cut edges.
