A comprehensive guide to Inconel 718 Fittings

Inconel 718 fittings are high-performance nickel-based superalloy components designed for extreme environments, offering exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and stability, remaining stable at temperatures up to 700°C (1300°F). They are widely used in critical, high-stress, and highly corrosive applications, particularly in the aerospace and oil and gas industries.

What are the limitations of Inconel 718?

Due to the relatively low thermal conductivity of nickel-based alloys such as Inconel 718, heat tends to accumulate at the tool tip during machining. This can lead to excessive tool wear, shortening tool life or reducing machining speed.

What Are Inconel 718 Fittings?

Inconel 718 fittings are used to connect or reroute piping systems subjected to high stress. These fittings meet industry standards for both mechanical and thermal properties. They are made from a nickel-based alloy, primarily composed of nickel, chromium, and iron. Niobium and molybdenum are also added for increased strength. Inconel 718 is unique for its high strength, resistance to rust, and resistance to creep and wear. All these properties make it perform exceptionally well in high-stress and high-temperature environments.

These fittings conform to the ASTM B366 Inconel 718 fitting standard and are widely used in aerospace, nuclear power, and power generation industries where mechanical integrity and temperature stability are critical. While Inconel 600 and Inconel 601 fittings are superior to other materials in terms of oxidation and carburization resistance, Inconel 718 fittings excel in high-temperature resistance and durability. Inconel 625 fittings are also known to be resistant to rust.

Inconel 718 pipe fittings product range and types

Gnee Steel offers a range of robust and durable Inconel fittings designed to meet the demands of various industries operating in harsh environments. Each fitting is durable and maintains mechanical integrity even under severe conditions. All fittings are carefully designed for smooth connections in high-pressure, high-temperature systems. Our product range covers both standard and custom sizes and conforms to ASTM B366 standards.

Inconel 718 Fittings

Elbows (90°, 45°, Long Radius, Short Radius)

These elbows are used to change the direction of fluid flow, offering a variety of radius and angle configurations, providing flexible layout options while maintaining structural strength and corrosion resistance.

Tees (Equal Tees, Reducing Tees)

Our tees are ideal for branching or merging in piping systems, perform reliably under thermal stress, and are available in both equal and reducing types to accommodate different piping designs.

Reducers (Concentric, Eccentric)

These fittings facilitate transitions between pipes of different sizes without interrupting fluid flow. Concentric reducers maintain pipe alignment, while eccentric reducers help prevent air buildup in horizontal piping.

Pipe Fittings (Full Fittings, Half Fittings)

Our full and half fittings are used to securely connect two pipe sections, designed to provide superior sealing, weldability, and pressure resistance for demanding applications.

Short Sections (Short/Long)

Short sections are primarily used to connect lap flanges and are available in both short and long sizes for systems requiring frequent disassembly and maintenance.

Union Fittings, Cross Fittings, Short Sections

These small components play a crucial role in high-precision assembly, enabling changes in direction, branching, and robust pipe extensions while maintaining leak-proof performance.
